More of the 425 and CNJ 113 Labor Day trip
Author: GAF1948

Although the 113 did not participate in the scheduled doubleheader with the 425, it did get a chance to stretch its legs. These shots are from Sunday, Aug.31 when it ran light (tender-first) from Minersville to Port Clinton.

Photo #1 shows it pulling past the Minersville depot to set out the CNJ business car across the street.

Photo #2 it is crossing the Schuylkill River at Landingville.

Photo #3 was taken in Schuylkill Haven as it passed through town.

On Labor Day the 113 put on a show pulling out of the engine terminal and backing down to tie onto the hoppers before the side-by-side runby with the 425.

The 113 sure looked good on the point of those hoppers!

But so did the 425 coming out of the Tamaqua tunnel, and on a pair of runbys west of Mahanoy City!

And finally, two spectacular runbys - in the sun - on the Hometown bridge and at Molino, just outside of Port Clinton. On that last one, the 425 was loud and fast! A far cry from my days on the Valley Forge Scenic in 1969 with the 425 at, say, 10 MPH!

Love that 113 and hoppers pic. Hope they can finish dressing up that girl. She needs her jacketing.

425 and whole train passing the trucks looks good. Thanks for sharing.

Picture #8 is the Tamaqua tunnel. Buck Mountain tunnel is the longer tunnel farther north. Great pictures btw, glad you enjoyed the trip!

Thanks for the correction about the runby at the Tamaqua tunnel (not Buck Mountain). I've edited the post.

Excellent photography!

I could not get away to take the trip, but your composition and lighting are first rate!

Your last photo is at a location known as 'Millers', Molino is further south where present PA 61 crosses the exRDG Little Schuylkill Br.
