Huntington locomotive was at the 1939 opening of the LAUPT station in Los Angeles. However, The "Governor" and the "El Dorado" were the first trains across the new Martinez-Benicia Bridge on October 15, 1930 at 11:44 A.M.-- consisting of Southern Pacific steam locomotives # 2442 and the famous "C.P.Huntington", SP # 1..... Greg Scholl's video "SP Steam Variety" ends with the LAUPT parade in 1939. You might check that ! KRK Date: 07/23/16 07:24 Re: CP Huntington Author: SFV-Dave Central Pacific locomotive "C. P. Huntington" was most definitely at the opening of Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal in 1939.

Well, You win !! Additionally, The editors should have caught their error: SP No.1, "C.P.Huntington" is a 4-2-4, not 2-4-0. The ceremonial run for LAUPT's grand opening was its last operation under its own boiler-made steam. Of course, it's now a static restored key exhibit at California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento. Investigations by CSRM in 1998 as to the state of its much rebuilt boiler proved that the boiler shell is too worn out to be safely steamed again without major repairs and replacements that would compromise the state of the otherwise intact artifact. Fair enough ? KRK Date: 07/23/16 22:05 Re: CP Huntington Author: C.P.Huntington As far as I know the last time the C.P.Huntington was run was for
the opening of Union Station in Los Angeles. Here is a video that has several shots of the this engine being steamed up and run down the middle of Alameda St. as part of the opening day parade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmOo9oKrjLI Edited 1 time(s).
