No diesel helper, that's amazing in itself, but time'll tell if Ed's claims are gonna hold, this is her 1ST big trip west in a long time!

In a consist like the one they are taking, I would assume that some of it is sleeping quarters for the crew? What about food, and who gets to sit in the dome?

Nice video

They covered more distance when they went to Memphis. This isn't as much. 844 performed very well with no issues at all when it ran to Memphis. It also ran great on its test run last week.

Good for you Bob!..how did she sound?..and I was kind of suprised at the short consist, but makes it look like a short local. Also looks like no public/paying passengers this trip?

Like I said, time'll tell!

(Also looks like no public/paying passengers this trip?)
The ole gal sounded square and loud. I too was glad Ed didn't have a diesel along.
No paying passengers along, just guests. On the down hill run to Laramie I got to visit with the pilot
engineer in the dome car. Started relating old war stories when he mentioned he saw a video of the 844
shoving a freight train. He thought it was over Sherman. I corrected him as it was from Burns to Archer
that I shoved a freight with 844.
It was a good trip even as short as it was for me. I had to get back to the UPHS office.

I agree, that's why I'm still skeptical and gonna stay that way until he's gone or something bad happens that really shows who knows how to run a steam program and who doesn't!

Anyone have more information on the tail-end car?

The tail car is the bunk car for the rotary snow plow set in Cheyenne. It has a kitchen and bunks for sleeping. They have used it twice now when going on trips.

Apparently the current manager does not want any of the crew members going back and forth to motels when on the road.

You don't think HE sleeps in that hothouse do you?
(It has no HEP and no air conditioning.)
