Steam & Excursion > 2nd passenger train on the Pocatello Sub yesterday.Date: 04/20/17 21:35 2nd passenger train on the Pocatello Sub yesterday. Author: badtanker1987 I was on the way home from seeing the 844 when I saw another passenger train going west, this time with a new GE on the point. There is no mention of it so I wanted to share. First thing that came to mind it was a 2nd section, was it so the 844 had to do less work or was it some kind of inspection train that had nothing to do with the 844? As far as I know the last time two passenger trains were on the Pocatello Sub the same day was back in 1989 with 844(4) and an inspection train, a rare event.

We had one pass through our area on the former MoPac / C&EI two days ago. The one through here had three cars with an open platform bringing up the rear.

Author: RailRat Nice catch!..always seems to be a train like this somewhere close to these steam specials. That first car behind engine looks like either a test car for new power or something, and notice the high lights or front facing "targets" on rear of last car,up high. (Possibly track alignment?)

(Possibly track alignment?) The head car is power car UPP 2066, discussed at length here previously. Pump Date: 04/21/17 20:36 Re: 2nd passenger train on the Pocatello Sub yesterday. Author: RailRat So this train is probably un-related to the 844 special?, just inspecting?
