RBM&N 425 - Pride of the Fleet
Author: tehachapi-dave

Reading Blue Mountain & Northern 4-6-2 Pacific #425 is a legendary locomotive in northeastern Pennsylvania,. The locomotive has called the region home since the early 1980's, when she was bought for the budding Blue Mountain & Northern railroad, operating excursions on the BM&R through the 80's and into the 90's.

With her striking dark blue paint, and legendary stack talk, the "four & a quarter" is one of the most impressive steam locomotives in operation today. This is a small look at the show she puts on whenever she plies the rails of the Reading & Northern, Enjoy!

Nice video! Beautiful melodic whistle on her, and listen to that bark!

I completely agree!

The 425 was the only steam locomotive I saw in operation last year. I watched it leave Jim Thorpe - a very dramatic departure.

Thanks for sharing your video.

That gal sure has a nice exhaust. Sounds like she is twice as big as she is.
Almost sounds like a Pennsy passenger whistle on her. Really sounds nice.
