Steam & Excursion > The Texas Returns at Spencer NC

The Western & Atlantic Railroad 4-4-0 Texas famous for its role in the Civil War's Great Locomotive Chase was unveiled to the public after a year long cosmetic restoration. The Atlanta History Center contracted Steam Operations Corporation to perform the work at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer NC. On Friday April 28th 2017 the Texas was unveiled to the public at Spencer's 100 Years of American Steam celebration event sponsored in part by CSX. The three day event will conclude on Sunday April 30th and the three day event includes operation of Lehigh Valley Coal 126 and N&W 611.
