844 into Cheyenne on the return trip

Just a few shots west of Cheyenne, and right as the 844 made it back into town.

Southwest Drive Cheyenne. Quite a few people out waiting for 844 to return.

Those flags either gotta go or at least be repositioned, they look silly flapping against the wind wings. I'd rather see it returned to its pre Dickens appearance but I have to admit, with the red Mars light gone the black smokebox doesn't look half bad.

I liked the flags, thought they were a nice touch. Are there other spots that they can mount them? Can't imagine how messed up they are after a trip.

I imagine they could be mounted just about anywhere, with a little planning. I'd go with right above the number boards so they could fly properly.

If I remember right they used to do that, I think they got black from the stacks.

They mounted flags above the smokebox at one time, years ago.

Photos of the flags mounted that way: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?10,3056330,3056330#3056330

At times the flags looked like they had been smoked and grilled on a BBQ.
