For those that might not know ...

The freight cars to the right of the station are standard gauge cars on the Antonito wye operated by Iowa Pacific's San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad. In the past, they had a steam engine pull passenger cars down from Alamosa to meet the narrow gauge. With the cars stored on the wye, those days are apparently gone.

The building immediately to the left (south) of the narrow gauge entrance used to be a restaurant which had sporadic service. Now it serves as one of two (or three?) legal pot shops in Antonito. It is strategically located on US 285 only a couple of miles from the New Mexico state line, and Taos and Santa Fe aren't too far away.

The pot shops are another reason we chose not to return to Colorado. Unfortunate but we found the state becoming too dangerous.

I have never been to one and have no intention doing so.

All the more room for the rest of us to enjoy that glorious state.
