How old is that drawbridge?

IIRC the Willamette is the newest of the major RR bridges in the greater Portland area.
The first span, built along with the Columbia River and Columbia Slough, was deemed too small by the Port of Portland.
I think the change to this bridge was in the late 20s or early 30s but I'd have to research to be sure.
It is 97 degrees at my house and my ambition is all but gone, but I'll look it up before long...I hope.

The rust-colored vertical lift span dates back only to 1989. Prior to that, the Willamette River bridge was a silver-painted swing span like the ones further east over Oregon Slough and the Columbia River at Vancouver, WA. The lift span is made of Cor-Ten or a similar steel alloy that is designed to form an impermeable rust layer on the surface, which protects the steel underneath from rusting clear-through. As a result, the lift span is unpainted, in contrast to the old, fixed truss spans on either side that have to be kept painted to keep the rust at bay.

Wasn't a locomotive or two put into the Willamette here a few years back?

New Years Eve in 1983 or 1984, one unit went in the river when the bridge was open.
