SP 4449 Going with the Flow
Author: funnelfan

SP 4449 and train heading north along the Deschutes River above Maupin, OR. The northbound trip didn't have nearly the number of chasers as the southbound trip had. The train had to make a emergency stop in Maupin to transfer a ailing passenger to a waiting ambulance. The unfortunate circumstance did allow the few chasers like myself to get photos both above and below Maupin.

Nice location, and a great shot with the water.

Dispatcher asked the 4449 crew for an ETA to Maupin while I was scouting areas to the north. The train was too far for me to hear the crew side of the conversation, so I was puzzled as to what that was about. Once the train got closer, I heard about the medical emergency, so then it made sense.

I ran into a good number of railfans who weren't using a scanner, and they appreciated the updates - no blind anxiety.
