Steam & Excursion > Durango and Silverton Fall ScheduleDate: 07/18/17 12:05 Durango and Silverton Fall Schedule Author: andersonb109 Hi. Question regarding the Durango and Silverton. I checked the web site and didn't see what I was looking for. I know the train runs to Silverton through October 28. But do they run a Cascade Wye turn after that? Or is that only in Winter? If so, is it daily? Also, when does significant snow fall in the Durango area or roads leading there typically begin that might prohibit safe travel. Any info appreciated. And yes, I can call but thought this might be easier. Thanks in advance.

There may be periods of a few to several hours during storms that the roads may be very slippery, or even closed for avalanche control. But it is certainly possible to visit Durango -- and Silverton -- via highway at any time of the year.
Snow has fallen in Durango in every month of the year; and significant accumulations can occur at early at late September and as late as late May. Date: 07/18/17 16:39 Re: Durango and Silverton Fall Schedule Author: PERichardson chakk Wrote:

I think you mean Colorado DOT, or has CA annexed CO? Date: 07/18/17 17:47 Re: Durango and Silverton Fall Schedule Author: CPRR "I think you mean Colorado DOT, or has CA annexed CO?"
Well with CA getting Mary Jane next year, maybe a annex would not be a bad idea..... Posted from iPhone Date: 07/18/17 17:53 Re: Durango and Silverton Fall Schedule Author: mundo Anderson, trying calling the REAL source.
