Sorta video... IC whistle's first sounding off at Monticello

The photo is of the whistle the day it arrived in Monticello back in April. The audio was this afternoon as it was blown for the first time here, on Southern Railway #401. They pointed me to the cab and told me to have at it. At least I played it better than the first time I picked up a guitar!

There will be actual video from the weekend on Monday.

(My son said it sounded like the SP 4449!)

Thanks for sharing Mary. I'm not old enough to have heard the Wabash steamboat like whistles but wonder if they would have sounder similar?

Pretty close. If you've seen any video of 765 when she ran to St. Louis for N.S. employee trips in 2012, she was fitted with a whistle that was saved from a Wabash Mike when she laid over in Decatur westbound.
