Steam & Excursion > FWRHS recognizes passing of Jerry Joe Jacobson...

NKP 765 will be operating this month at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Over the next 2 Saturdays, the Age of Steam Roundhouse will also be hosting 300 of our members of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society for tours.

No doubt dozens of people in steam preservation got their start or got a leg up working for the Ohio Central and several of us at FWRHS are no exception. Zach Hall, our current operations manager and myself, both cut our teeth on the Ohio Central in the early 2000's and in the years after. Those were very foundational years in our steam education. Other OC alum who went on to work for the FWRHS include Rich Melvin, Chris Lantz, Brian Smith and others. Jerry's support of the 765 goes all the way back to the engine's first rebuild when he and Gary Bensman secured good coal for the 765's test runs in 1980.

Yesterday we applied Jerry's name to the engine as our way of saying thanks.
