OK, after all these truly spectacular photos being recently posted of the SP narrow gauge steam locomotives, at "Laws", I'll be the dummy that FINALLY has to ask; just where the hell is "Laws"??????

It's at the north end of the Owens Valley, just east of the Sierras. Between the Sierra and the Nevada state line.

Look for Bishop, CA on any map.
Laws is just outside Bishop.

Most of today's towns are on the west side of the Vally- the RR ran down the east side. So all the RR's station names were different than the towns they served. (I think that's a fair description of things)

Laws is a dot on the map just Northeast of Bishop, Ca. Where the hell is Bishop? Eastern side of the Sierras in California, on U.S. hwy 395.Very remote, very cool places.

Enter Laws CA into Google. Simple as that ;-) The Owens Valley is bounded on the east and west by 13,000+ ft mountains. As it falls in the rain shadow of the Sierras, it's stark, high desert. And if you enjoy that, it's a beautiful area. As a more obscure reference point, Laws is about an hour's drive north of the famous WW II internment cap of Manzanar.
