Bound For Glory.......

What steamers were used in the movie? I know most of the filming was on Altamont with some on the Sierra. One of the engines looks like the #25 off the McCloud.

Thanks in advance.

McCloud #25 (I believe it was filmed on the Tidewater Southern near Manteca, CA

Sierra RR #'s 28 and 34.

I read somewhere that the 844 was originally slated to be used for the movie, but some some reason was not available. At 33 cars, I think this was the longest train ever assembled specifically for a movie.

Thanks. It sure looked like the #25 in a few shots.

The big prairie shots were made on the Sierra RR with Locomotives 28 and 34.

Sierra Railroad #3 appears briefly in the background of one shot.

I seem to remember several railroad scenes were shot on the WP over Altamont, with a smoke unit near the head end used to simulate smoke from steam power.
