Steam & Excursion > Oregon Coast Scenic RR Gets A New Look For It's Passenger Fleet!Date: 04/12/18 07:16 Oregon Coast Scenic RR Gets A New Look For It's Passenger Fleet! Author: LoggerHogger For the past several weeks our crews have been giving our passenger fleet at OCSR some much needed TLC. As you all know the coastal climate that we operate in is not very forgiving to paint on passenger cars.
We have found some heavy duty paint that is used by the Coast Guard for their vessels that should hold up well for the years to come. We also have changed the color of our passenger cars to brighten up the trainset. Here is the first of the cars to roll out of the paint booth. More to follow. OCSR retained the UP number 24508. It was acquired in 2006 from a private owner who had it on their property in the Chehalis, WA area. The car was very well maintained. OCSR repainted the car and added a ticket counter at the "A" end of the car. A crossover platform was also added on the "A" end to allow passage to the passenger train while the train was stopped at the depots. The car's first revenue runs were in July 2006. The attached photo is from July 1, 2006 when the caboose was deadheaded from Tillamook to Garibaldi to begin service on the excursion train.
