Linda and Blanche in action

On the Ffestiniog Railway this morning sisters Linda and Blanche (Hunslet 1893) on the railway's annual 80 mile round trip shindig from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, Caernarfon and back. It's on the deviation built in the 1960s and 70s when the original route (which you can see in the background) was flooded by an HEP scheme.

Thanks to my pal Google, I found FFestinoig RR is in Wales. I wonder how many here knew that? Probably quite a few. You might have saved me a step. Also, how did the HEP, or head end power, cause the flooding seen in the back ground? I enjoyed the video. Cool little buggers. d

That's right, HEP in English English is Hydro Electric Power.

Great job at getting that shot at a fairly remote location. where you there for the decommissioning of the Earl?

Thanks, no I wasn't, been following all the moaning on social media about Earl's demise. It seems to be an engine that you either love or hate, I know individuals in both camps.
