Castro Point is at he eastern end of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge northeast of San Francisbo Calif. The equipments belong to the Pacific Locomotive Association, which operates in the Niles Canyon now. Theese slidesy were shott in the 80's on first Mondays when they ran. #2 and $#4 are runnning at Niles.

Were they forced to move or was the Niles line too good to pass up?

The navy had other uses for it so they ended their lease with the PLA (ironically the same thing happended to the GGRM). The PLA looked for a new home and luckily was able to secure the recently abandoned SP ROW in Niles Canyon. Being next to the bay was nice but Niles Canyon has worked out very well for the PLA.

So here are the Castro Poit days of two that are alive and well in Niles Canyon. And a side vire od #12.

Nice pic of Ray “Mac” at the helm of the Steptoe Valley. I think some of the wettest, coldest days I ever spent we’re on that thing.
