Nevada Northern RR
Author: jmbreitigan

We flew out west to visit Great Basin NP near Baker, NV. right after Labor day. On the way back we stopped in Ely, NV. and rode the Nevada Norhtern RR one day and chased it the next day. I took a short video of Locomotive #93 slowly coming into the yard (9-9-18). The other video is of two recently re-furbished Wig Wag signals in the yard (9-10-18). I don't think they were operating just right this day as you can see. About 5 seconds after I stopped recordng the signals stopped.

I also took a lot of pictures including some of a engine house tour. It will take a bit to sort through them and I will post them as soon as possible.
Enjoy, John

Hope somebody fixed the wig-wag track sensor.

The wig wags do not have sensor that activates them.  The track arrangement is rather complicated around the signal so it is not real easy to install insulated joints. I built a remote control relay that when the railroad radio mic is clicked three times the signals activate for 75 seconds.  The problem is the antenna is inside the iron box and it really needs to be brought outside so it has more range.  I don't get up there but once a year, but if there is a radio guy on here who is looking for a project I am sure Mark would put them up in the bunkhouse to get this fixed up.

Yep, that is the box, it needs an external antenna.

Those 2 passenger cars almost look like old interubran electric cars.  Front end windows and high  riding.
