NP 2435
Author: gbmott

Over the past few years I have periodically posted photos showing the progress in the full cosmetic restoration of NP 2435 being undertaken by the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth.  I was there a couple of weeks ago and here is the latest.  It is hoped that the work will be completed and the locomotive moved into the museum before winter.  The first photo was taken February 12, 2014, and the second on September 6th of this year.

Looking great.   Hopefully she will forever have a nice roof over her head after the cosmetic restoration has been completed.

Great to see this, Gordon!  Thanks for sharing the photo. It is wonderful to have a Prairie Type
locomotive cosmetically restored.  I don't know of many, if any, other examples of a 2-6-2.

I don't know their condition today, but the ATSF donated a number of 2-6-2's to mostly smaller towns at the end of steam.  Anyone out there able to say more about that?

There is the McCloud River Railroad #25 which went to the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.  Don't know when it last ran on the OCSR.

I cannot be sure they all exist today

ATSF 1024 is in LaJunta co.. ATSF 2-6-2  1819 is on display in Lamar Co., downtown at the depot. I saw it last summer. They are trying to keep it painted and looking nice. Lots of problems typical of a display locomotive thats been in the elements for decades.
