Author: Wacky-roger1942 When you are touring the Byway please respect the no trespassing signs. When Rich and I were taking the photos we were not trespassing we were there with permission and had two escorts ( Edward and Xavier) from the Southern Ute tribe.Pagosa Junction is a small town in the remote Colorado back country near the New Mexico Border, along the Tracks Across Borders Scenic & Historic Byway. Today, it is a ghost town on the Southern Ute Reservation.

Were these building also a bunk house? Maybe for MOW guys? I'll throw these photos in here- this is the Gomez Store just before it was moved the the museum in Pagosa Springs. It was (is) a real treasure in Gato (Pagosa Junction). I recall there was a gas pump in front of the store, but I don't see it in these photos. SR Looking forward to your further documentation! Author: Milwaukee Does Pagosa Junction still have the D&RGW gondola still stranded there?
Anyone know why the gondola was left there or why the rail in Pagosa Junction was left in place when the rest of the line west of Chama was scrapped. Date: 11/11/18 14:54 Re: Tracks Across Borders Scenic Byway=Pagosa Junction=Offices. Author: Wacky-roger1942 Milwaukee Wrote:

Roger Hogan Chama, NM Train Stuff Date: 11/11/18 15:30 Re: Tracks Across Borders Scenic Byway=Pagosa Junction=Offices. Author: HT6 Yes, there was a gas pump there in 1962. Fortunately I filled up with gas before taking what on the map looked like a short cut to Alamosa. It turned out to be anything but and I ended up in a ditch. A Forest Service employee on his way home from the mountain pulled us out and gave us the correct directions. I had just enough gas to get to Alamosa, thanks to that gas pump at Pagosa Junction.
