Some good news out of Colorado Springs this week. 

The dollar total is surprising and really would represent a very positive committment. The thing is a
hoot to ride, I'm really glad they could see the long term value.

Some people are much better than others at rasiing $100,000,000.00!

They are estimating their cost to reopen at $100 million!!!!!!   There is no way any operator could justify that much of an investment on less than a 10 mile operation.   Throwing that number around must be a play at getting significant tax breaks or special favors from government.   I hope this all works out to get it up and running again in 2021 but I doubt the end investment will turn out to be $100 million.   Think of how long it would take to get a return on all of that money!    

One article I read stated that The Broadmoor's parent company will receive substaintial tax breaks from the City of Manitou Springs to help offset the rehabilitation and eventual operating costs once service is restored. I think the local government realized how much of an impact the railroad has and was eager to get it back in service. I also hope that once everything is back in order that we get to see a few more steam runs with #4.  

well they said it needs a complete rebuilding,  as the track was original,  new cars too?

The Broadmoor has a massive amount of clout in Colorado Springs. If they want something to happen, it WILL happen!
