There was a late spring snow storm overnight in the area, and I could have died for a chance to catch this cold scene, but alas, I had to work the casinos on Elko overnight, and had to sleep in this morning! Oh well, at least Rick was here catch the action today! Happy Holidays!! Please Note This is A transfer From Rick's VHS tape -to My VHS which is a copy, and quality will suffer as a result. I asked Him permission to show his footage way back then, and he said OK. Not sure if he is still around or not?

Yes, he had his VHS cam, mounted on thin legged tripod = some camera shake in the wind. Thanks. Must have been down grade, as there was no exhaust sound with such a big train.

West of that is the Forty Mile Desert. My wife and I had a business car on that train and hosted friends and relatives from Elko to Portola.

Not sure, but possibly yes due to wet tunnel, or possible slow SP train ahead of steam special, heading into Carlin for crew change, or yard.
