Grand Canyon 1991
Author: JLKirk

My father and I went to the Grand Canyon's 'Railfan Weekend' in 1991.  Along with all of the steam, we were given a tour of the shops in Williams.  It is hard to imagine these pieces of the 4960 became the beautiful restoration years later!

Just out of curiosity, did any of its CB&Q parts survive? It has a much bigger tender now and isn't the cab bigger/different too?

Most of the important stuff is all CB&Q.  Frame, running gear, boiler.

B & NW is stenciled on the tender, probably for Bristol and Northwestern when 4960 ran out of Bristol, Virginia, on the former Southern Railway line.
