Author: warren1977 After catching EVRR #11 in the morning on a MOW extra to Sproul,PA. (posted 1/1/2019). I later went to the EVRR station at Hollidaysburg,PA., to ride the mid-afternoon run of an Ice Cream Special, which goes to the restored x-PRR depot in Roaring Spring. There each passenger gets a large scoop of old-fashioned ice cream, made by a local dairy, there are 6 flavors available.
One can the observe the movements of #11 and train, duck watch at the adjacent pond fed by the aforementioned spring source, or check out the trinkets for sale inside the depot. The local historical society has done a great job with the building, but must continually battle petty mischief and vandalism, with security cameras recenty installed. A sad statement in a town of 3,000. Pics taken after arrival at Roaring Spring, after passengers unload, train reverses to the passing siding about 1 mile west at Rodman, where long ago ballast trains were loaded for Conrail. #11 runs around the train and then pushes back to the depot; passengers reboard for return trip. Video taken from baggage car as train passes over Halter Creek and then PA 36, this is where gradient stiffens, reaching a maximum of 1.6% over the next 3 miles through McKee's Gap.
