Everett RR #11 trip to Martinsburg Jct., PA. 4/21/18
Author: warren1977

Twice a year, Everett #11 takes an excursion train to the eastern end of active trackage at Martinsburg Jct., approximately 14 miles from Hollidaysburg. The extended run allows more photo opportunities for chasers, and has a 1.5% grade out of Roaring Spring for the first 2 miles eastbound.
This is a chase from Brookes Mill Jct. to Martinsburg Jct., and includes turning of the engine.

#11 cuts off to turn on the wye, trackage to the east goes to the next grade crossing, about 1/4 mile, and is OOS after that point, this was the Curryville branch.

Coming off the northeast leg of the wye, the town of Martinsburg is at the end of this leg, about 1/2 mile away. There is still an active siding to a CARGILL elevator, but not much else.

Returning westbound, crossing RT36 just south of Roaring Spring.
It was a fairly nice day, highs in the upper 50s,look forward to being there again.

Great little railroad....great photography.   No flags, no plaques, no signs, no yellow handrails, no pizza pie plates on the smoke box, no chrome. Just an honest to gosh steam short line, doing its thing. Rare and beautiful. I love it!

Thanks to all for your comments.
I am still "finding my way" with digital photography, after over 20 years shooting 35mm slides/prints. My Nikon D-7000 has much different capabilities than my old Nikon FM.
The Everett is indeed a traditional steam excursion, it's hard to believe it's only been operating since 2015.
I recommend the Roaring Spring trips for an enjoyable ride, and chasing the Martinsburg trips for maximum photo ops.
Growing up in the Cumberland,MD. area during the 1970s, I was exposed to the work of William Price, Tom Biery, and TO's own  "Roadjob" Bill Rettberg, among others.
