Steve, these are very fine images. I miss the 3985 in action .   Were these digital images or 35 mm slides ?   --Kelly

Thanks for the photos Steve. It was a pleasure to run and fire the 3985 in my careeer with the ole gal. It and I were on a pretty 1 to 1 basis.

By that time, Steve Lee had been promoted to a Superintendent (in about April or May 2010), and the current manager was in charge of the Cheyenne Steam Shop. Steve still went on all the steam trips after his promotion, until his retirement at the end of December 2010.

Awesome images of a great trip. The morning leaving N.Platte eastbound made the 1800+ mile trip out there. Thanks for sharing.

I had to end my chase at Lodge Pole. That evening and the rest of the weekend I was riding one of my Fairmont Motorcar on the Blacks Hills Central and Monday we were on the Dakota Southern west of Murdo.

Kelly and Bob thanks for the kind comments. Kelly these were shot with my fairly new Canon Rebel digital camera. Before that I used a Nikromat 35mm with a Nikor lense. Only shot prints never shot a slide in my life. I have thousands of 35mm prints in no orginazation what so ever. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to scan some of them.
