Those two drop bottom gons were sitting there on the then siding at Arboles in 1968 (50 years ago), filled with cinders to be used for ballast, but never were.

The engine and log train in the center photo is not even D&RGW.  It was purchased from Lima in 1906 by E.M.Biggs of the Burns-Biggs Lumber Co. and operated on the RG&SW and also on the RG&PS and in 1924 was moved to McPhee and ran on the New Mexico Lumber Co. The only distance it ever operated on the San Juan line was over two switches used to cross the D&RG at Lumberton to move logs from RG&SW to Edith on the RG&PS. Nice photo but for a different display location, maybe at Edith, especially at Lumberton.  This was where log trains without air crossed and used the common carrier, but were exempt in the Safety Appliance Act account log trains are not commerce, not interstate commerce as they are industry.  Logs were not waybilled and both railroads were owned by New Mexico Lumber Co. and were both Tapp Lines.
