Nevada Northern Day 2
Author: skyview

A mix of clouds and sun were the rule for Saturday, Feb 9, on the NEvada Northern steam weekend, though the sun did manage to be out enought to result in good images.  These are some of the images from day 2.

Just enough sun at Keystone for one of the runbys, with full sun back at East Ely.

Beautiful photos!  Personally, I prefer the look of clouds and diffused lighting on Day 2 to the clear sky on Day 1.

Musta been bitter cold in the passenger cars....why no steam heat lines connected..??
BRRR.!!!!

To me, that’s what makes winter pass. operations so interesting... as an observer.

As an operator, getting the steam heat properly connected and gently blowing was always a real PAIN.
Been there, done that, got the longies to prove it.... both on fan trips and on the Class 1s...
BRRR...

Very, very nice photography.    BTW, did the railroad ever get that passenger car fixed that was damaged in that runaway, many years ago?

NNRY's cars (at least the wooden cars seen here) all have coal stoves.  Having done a few charters there, they work very well.  One of the cars on site has a baker heating system, which is like a self contained steam heat system utilizing forced hot water/steam and a coal furnace.  Not sure if that's part of the operating fleet.

I think the two wooden cars with #40 were the ones damaged by a contractor's runaway flat car.
