German steam 1967 Part 1
Author: Panamerican99

After seeing the postings of German steam in the 1960's-'70's by Greg Scholl and others, I thought I would post some scenes from 1967 when I was stationed in Germany in the U S Army. Part 1 covers a trip I made from Frankfurt to Limburg. At the time (May, 1967) trains on this line were the only remaining ones to have steam power. On a day off, I rode to Limburg and visited the roundhouse there as shown in the following photos.

1. 50 1432 is backing to the roundhouse at Frankfurt after arriving from Limburg.
2. 50 3009, in fresh boiler paint, rests beside the Limburg roundhouse.
3. An un-numbered 50 class, lettered "Heizlok" stands under a blower on one of the whisker tracks outside the Limburg roundhouse.
It was apparently used to supply steam to the roundhouse.
