Bosnia Steam 2
Author: andersonb109

All photos were taken from the same October 2017 tour discussed in the first Bosnia post. Not sure why but Bosnia received nearly double the views of any other country presented. While the objective of the tour was to see and photograph real working industrial steam, we made one exception and got the authorities to put steam on some container cars parked in a siding. Just to run up and down the track for us. No idea if that ever happened in regular service before mainline steam ended. The first two photos are at Lakavac with loco 33-504 doing the honors.  The third is  loco 33-248 at Bunkije steam shed after a hard day's work. As mentioned in the first post, Bosnia is the only place in Europe where you can see regular working industrial steam.  Locos are operating only within the property of the various coal mines. Several locos are still in service. With modernization happening quickly in the country along with reduced coal use, it  probably won't last much longer.

Bruce,
Congrats on the Austria reflection as Image of the Day.  Not often a foreign shot makes it.  Usually its a western U.S. subject.

Those engine in this thread sure look a lot like the Austrian 52 2-10-0's we shot in 1974.  Are they transplants from the German war loks??
