Strasburg on February 24th
Author: OCtrainguy

During a weekend visit to the Strasburg area the last weekend in February, I was able to catch one of the Strasburg trains that weekend.  Here, on a cold and dreary Sunday, the noon train departs with engine 89 pulling the train.  These photos are from the Red Caboose Motel.

1.  At the crossing
2.  Reflection from the rain the night before
3.  Going away photo

Got a couple of photos to follow of the coaches, including the newly restored one, plus a video to follow.

4.  The railroad did an excellent job restoring this coach.  It was almost finished when I did a shop tour in late October.  The picture doesn't do it justice, it looks great!
5.  Going away photo of the whole train
6.  Video of the train

Looking forward to getting back out there late spring or early summer!

That newly rebuilt B&O coach is beautiful and it rides so much better than the other cars since it rides on six wheel trucks.  Everybody should visit the Strasburg Railroad anytime that you are in the area of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  It is a great, well maintained operation.

To bad Strasburg couldn't a bit of land to create a wye to turn the locomotive or even a turntable! Just saying!

I believe they do indeed have a pretty complete turntable bridge assembly on their property. All that is needed are funds to: dig the pit, pour concrete, and install/wire the turntable. Probably a couple a hundred thousand dollars should do it.

They actually have TWO of them.  One for each end.  A "someday..." project.
