Unlikely, especially since NS sold off some of their passenger cars, so no point in bringing that up again. As a donor I just want to see her operating again.

Since the NS no longer allows excursions, just what "operations" would involve 611?

Ones that only use NS to deadhead and ones that operate off Norfolk Southern.

Let's also note that Strasburg teased an announcement for this coming Friday, and in the Strasburg picture they used (what I believe) are the firebox doors from N&W 475.

Looks like 611 is going to Strasburg.

For those of you without Facebook. Strasburg posted they will also make an announcement on the 15th. As part of the announcement there is a picture of 611’s firebox doors.

Whoops, you're right. Comparing the Strasburg picture to that of 611 they look the same.

I believe 611 is going to Strasburg, what routes would it go to go to Strasburg?

I wouldn’t be surprised if 611 is towed under steam.

If 765 is allowed to do deadhead moves to Cuyahoga why wouldn’t 611 be allowed to do the same across the NS system?

Right, it operates when it goes down to Spencer under its own power too.

RIght, be very happy it operates at all, and that NS at least allows the steam engines to travel to other places to operate in today's PSR environment.

I agree, I know a lot of fans out there can't wait to chase/ride her!

Honestly, towing it would be the cheaper option. Given the opportunities for 611 to generate revenue at Strasburg are fairly limited, save the money on coal running to there and just tow it in. It will probably take two loads of coal just to ferry to Strasburg under it's own power, versus one load if towed. That's a lot of money saved.

When 765 moves, they can easily make up of the cost of transit with selling excursion tickets and souvieners. 611 likely won't pull trains regularly on the Strasburg line (maybe one weekend with extra prices), so most of the revenue will come from throttle time, whistle blowing and photo charters.

Two words: cab signals.

I forgot about that, but yes the NS line that connects to Strasburg requires cab signals.
