Skookum on the Oregon Coast video
Author: typebangin

Last week I attended the first Trains Magazine photo charter on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad with 2-4-4-2 "Skookum."  It was nice to see this very unique mallet in operation, especially since running gear problems sidelined the locomotive when I was there in October.  Scott Wickert and co. did an amazing job with the restoration, and the locomotive really looks at home pulling log cars on the Oregon coast.  This video has scenes from both days I was there: Thursday March 14th and Friday the 15th.

They are great videos and thanks for sharing,  Where else can you see the skeleton log cars in action, or log bunk cars?  Clarke's Trading Post at North Woodstock, NH is one place that run loaded or empty log bunk car with steam once a year. Can anyone name other use of original log bunks, or skeleton cars.  The skeleton car may be rarer to see running than a steam locomotives. Even Cass Scenic RR uses flat cars and has no log skeleton cars.

Thanks for sharing your video. This is certainly one of the most interesting and unique steam locomotives ever.

Really enjoyed watching your video!! Especially like how you stayed with the train and did soft fade outs with the whistle in background.  Thanks so much for posting your video!

Excellent video, James, and I'll echo all the comments before this.  Really nice camera work and scenic angles, as well as pacing--bravo!  Nice to meet you on the charter too while waiting on Skookum at Smith Lake and other locations.
Please let us know when you've got this video for sale, James; I'd buy one or two for sure.

Thanks for posting!
