Yeah, don't guess my wife and kids will be going on that one!! 

It's now apparent how UP is paying for the Big Boy to be rebuilt!

Naive! That is code for UP taking most of the money and giving only a portion to the Museum and Golden Spike Foundation. Hence, what I originally said.

A cab tour is not listed as part of the ticket. Two days of activities are listed.

You can do an entire PV trip with a roomette for multiple days including gourmet meals for the price of one day in dome coach seat.  It will be interesting to see how quickly or even if this sells out. My entire trip to Europe next week including two photo charters over 6 days, 7 flights (one in Business Class), 12 nights in hotels and an overnight train with sleeper is coming in at just under $8,000 not including most meals.

The friends of the 261 had tickets for an entire trip to Scotland riding behind the Flying Scotsman for around that price. ($5000 roughly) And that was a 10 day international vacation. That included hotels, meals on the train, and multiple portions for personal exploring and excursions while in the area.

I have been trying to buy tickets and I cannot log to purchase them !

I'll wave as you go by!  I'm going to be in the Circus crowd. 
It might be worth the $5,000 to not have to fight for space on the road.  No not really!  It's going to be interesting though. 
I just hope that there are not too many crazies, ha ha!!  They will be coming out of the woodwork and everywhere!  The prairie dogs are going to wondering where they all came from!
At least in Utah and Wyoming it's basically wide open!  The biggest problem I can forecast is the people hanging out the window with their I-Pads pacing the train and three miles of cars trying to get around them!
It's going to be interesting.  Hope everyone has fun and be careful!! 

Think most the highways are 70-85mph. Don’t think it will be that hard to chase. Think maybe 55mph on the 4014.

Spent 5 days on the White Pass &Yukon for about half that....

With the proceeds going to the Foundation and Museum, both non-profits, the cost, less the "proven value" of the excursion, could be written off as a charitable contribution on ones taxes.  Of course one would really have to provide documenetation the the true value of the excursion was less than the actual cost to satisfy the IRS.

What does on sale 4-15 mean?
