Improper learning. Nobody read the sticker on the control stand of the ACe pushing....

Were the wheels on 844 actually NOT TURNING, or turning too slowly, due to mishandling?

I’ve seen the video of 844 overshooting the stopping point, but have not seen the drivers actually sliding.

Yes. That was how the big flat spots occurred..

or

Jack, the flat spots were really caused by that defective mu box. Yeah, right. Smh.

I'm curious, are there photos of the flat spots available? Exactly how long were the flat spots? Are they considered defects?

In the eyes of the FRA people, yes they were an FRA defect, and thus could not be run. The Mechanical Crew did some grinding on the "edges" of the flat spots, in order for the locomotive to be moved, at slow speed, to a suitable facility with a drop table large enough to drop 80" diameter wheels.

And all the Kool Aid Drinkers claim Eds the best Steam Manager they have, that incident proved otherwise, and the recent post about the piping on 4014, that'll make him a laughingstock!

He is the only steam qualified engineer on the UP..... Not and he knows this not to be true.

This is the UP steam qualified checklist the UP has to determine if your steam qualified:

** Note if you answer NO to any of the questions then you are NOT steam qualified on the UP.....

1. Do you have a FRA class 1 engineer's license?

2. Are you rules (GCOR) certified and have completed the tests?

3. Are you Special Ed Dickens?

Take the test to see if you are qualified or not....

The is bunch of video's on youtube of the 844 going by with the 1982 pushing in run 8 with smoke coming from the brakes on the train. What a blank show.....

A day that will definitely be remembered, I remember all the excuses that came along with it. The UP1982 was defective, the MU control box was defective etc etc etc.....
