4014 is running harder and faster as the break in proceeds. I'm betting she will be punding good when she goes up Sherman on Sunday.

Oh my goodness gracious... better get out of that Big Boy's way, because he is haulin' a** now! Sherman Hill is going to be something else... a dream come true for steam locomotive lovers.

Only thing stronger and more impressive than Ed Dickens, who led the 4014 restoration, is the 4014. May they both run far into the future.

You aren’t kidding. I was Born and raised in the US, and I’m a naturalised Australian where I lived for the last 12 years. Now I live in the Netherlands and have friends with zero interest in Steam from both Oz and her in Holland getting people to check out the Big Boy. Everyone I’ve shown keeps saying, “yeah, I heard about that”. Ed has taken the UP global. Who is the joker who was saying they were going to shut the steam program soon??? LMFAO. Right, let’s drop 5 to 10 million restoring the worlds largest, throw a big party. Get global attention and fascinate people in the process, and then let’s pull the plug. Want to find negativity on UP steam? Ya know where to come. It’s the only place you’ll find it.

Without a doubt the Big Boy is doing the work in that video.

That's cool. BB is working and 844 is still not at stride yet. Gotta love the different driver sizes at work.

Anyone who's worked for the railroad knows that, when they paint a buiding, they're getting ready to tear it down.

They seem to disappear when the train shows up.

Gotta luv the woman running into scene onto r-o-w, then noticing everyone else already there, who have likely been there waiting since she got up this morning, but oh well, she's gonna get HER shot.🙈.

I would like to see the locomotive placed on a freight train in due course and given a load trial

perhaps on the flat lands somewhere

i presume management have thought about the idea of giving the engine, when fully run in,  this plan

There is a LOT more work to be done/finished on 4014, so handling a "tonnage freight train" from Cheyenne to North Platte might be something for 2020. Remember that the 4000 class locomotives were not quite the "speedsters" as the 3900 class Challengers were.
