The light and weather was wonderful at Evanston this morning when 4014 departed eastward.

Three of us had video cameras set up on tripods just east of the underpass in town, while we worked our still cameras during the departure. 

The "no, no, hey, hey" you hear on this video is my voice, admonishing a man in a red jacket, who was about to walk in front of our shot. My admonishment worked, and he stopped short of cutting across in front of us.

I hope you enjoy this slow roll of today's train heading eastward.

Good job, Mr. B!  The dopes who will walk in front of someone's photo are like the clowns who visit Disneyland.  Saw about a couple hundred of them last weekend.  Martin and his Big Band, The Fresh Rhythm, were fantastistic.  Look 'em up on Youtube.

Thanks for posting your video. It is excellent quality and especially thanks for documenting the whole train. All to often this is passed over and never documented.

I don't know why only people in RED coats always getin the photos or videos. Must be blinded by the red and brain dead. Red coat people please explain. Patrick

I don't think it has anything to do with the color of one's coat. It's been my experience that stupidity comes in all colors.

As I recall during the rebuild program for 4014, the 844 was not used if at all. Was any work done on it so it would be ready for the roll out 4014?

Heh heh appropriate without realizing it, as the 1970 hit NaNa, Hey Hey, was done by the group STEAM! === === = === JLH

There were at least five times that 4014 rebuild work had to be stopped to fire up the 844, take it on a trip, and then clean and dry out the 844 for storage.
A couple of Cheyenne Frontier Days trips to Denver CO
A College World Series trip to Omaha NE
A trip to the bridge in Memphis TN
A trip to the depot in Boise ID.

Nice video, I stood on the old wood platform opposite to watch 844 leave Evanston a few years ago. Nothing like watching a train, especially a steam train, starting up from a stop to leave town.
