"Big Boy" on the tender is just a very unique touch..... Date: 05/19/19 20:38 Re: Pulling Into Cheyenne Author: wpjones I know you didn't mean to say tender. Also you do know where the Chalked Big Boy came from and why don't you. Some people don't know.
Steve Date: 05/20/19 06:38 Re: Pulling Into Cheyenne Author: Bob3985 Yes, it is chalked on the smokebox door and it is representative of the the first 4-8-8-4 to arrive from Alco with this chalked on the 4000 in the same location. It was chalked on there by an employee.
Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 05/20/19 07:50 Re: Pulling Into Cheyenne Author: Tominde Was this "Big Boy" done in chaulk or paint? I suspect paint since it has held up so well.
Date: 05/20/19 09:02 Re: Pulling Into Cheyenne Author: NKP779 The chalk on the smokebox, like Alco in 1941, was a very nice touch. I have nothing but praise for the completion of the project and the "class act" that UP always is! The events at Cheyenne, Ogden, and Promontory Summit were all first rate productions.
