Steam & Excursion > Traction Weekend at IRM

The weekend of June 29 and 30, 2019 was the Illinois Railway Museum's annual traction extravaganza where the Union, IL museum shows off its collection of electric railway equipment. This year the mainline trains consisted of three, three-car trains of midwest interurbans Illinois Terminal, Chicago, Aurora and Elgin and Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee.
1. Illinois Terminal combine 277 leads an IT trailer coach and an IT parlor car into the station
2. Chicago, Aurora and Elgin 319 with a three car train of CAE wood cars
3. Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee 749 with its train

4. Where else are you going to find three, three-car trains from three differect interurban railways? Here the museum's Illinois Terminal; Chicago, Aurora and Elgin and Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee trains are lined up on the museum's depot tracks 

5. IT combine 277 and CNSM 749

6. We'll call this one an honorary traction shot only because I haven;t seen ITC GP7 1605 outside in several years

The museum's trolley loop was busy too.
7. Chicago and West Towns 141 boards passengers. My nephew got all excited when he saw the Brookfield Zoo sign on the car becase he had just spent the last week at the zoo's summer camp.
8. IT 415 rolling east on the loop. ITC 1615 can be seen in the background. The sign is from the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend and fits it since IRM has CSS&SB motor 803 in its collection

Not running while I was there but also neat to see was this lineup along the west side of the museum:
9. Charles City and Western motor 300
10. Chicago, South Shore & South Bend line car 1100
11. CSS&SB cars 34 and 40

Great pics.  Thanks.  IRM is on my bucket list to visit.

Very impressibe.  IRM has set the bar very high!

Great Set!  Saw and rod IT last year, I guess only comes out once and a while.
