Steam & Excursion > 4014 running the yard.

4014 has been running around the Cheyenne yard most of the afternoon, getting ready to head east in the morning.
Still out as of 630pm.

Has the leaking rod packing on the front engine been repaired?

There are videos on Facebook.  The left front piston rod looks tight as a drum. Still a slight wisp of steam coming from the right front cylinder.  The builders plates have been mounted and the “Big Boy” chalk mark is gone from the smokebox door.  Still no cylinder head covers.

Lubricator chain drive mechanism still appears to be uncovered.

When I saw it come through salt lake the cylinder head covers were trashed impact damage. They are gonna have to make new ones.

tender is numbered, no more chalk it appears

They looked fine on the floor last night.

Don't know what you were looking at but, she departed Cheyenne without any "cylinder head covers", and still doesn't have them mounted. Personally, I think she looks better without them.
