A few pics from today.  'Big Boy' still in chalk on smokebox door. There were 21 centerflow hoppers in the consist.

Hmmmmm. Note that the front coupler is swung out. Wonder why.

I noticed the same thing myself, maybe switching it around the shop area before it was under steam and was never swung back in?

Maybe they want to be ready to shove a train over a hill!

Probably because they didn't swing it in.

While waiting at Archer for 4 hours for their departure I heard they had a steam leak ahead of the turret on top of the boiler.
I finally had to give up and go get something to eat as I was starting to fade away.
However, I did hear some whistling from the restaurant.
There will be plenty of photos from the 30+ photographers up on the overpass.
And I did get some pretty good photos of all the freights passing by in the mean time.

Was 3 hours, not 4.
Water leak repair took some, dispatching took some.

Nothing wrong with pointing it out. Calm your britches.

Accurate info from those who know more than "coupler swung out". Having it swung out is really no big deal except for those who care too much about their photo. Perhaps they intended to swing it in but the steam leak diverted their attention. And those that care about the schedule are most likely upset, but they only matter to those who live in the upper floors in Omaha.
Wish them a good safe trip.

No idea what it takes to put the coupler 'in' or move it 'out' but either way it makes very little difference and if it is 'out' and usable, it makes it easy if they have to pull it.
Most steam engines had couplers out there in the open.
