Steam & Excursion > Question about U.P SteamDate: 07/10/19 16:03 Question about U.P Steam Author: Txtrainman60 Does anyone know if they plan on running the 4014 to locations other than the midwest? I'm well aware of it's size and know it is very restricted as to just where it can go. One would think they could atleast run 844 down to Texas for those of us less fortunante.

Rumor is that they plan to take the Sunset route back from California. Whoa. That would be incredible. Were you firing the challenger last time it ran through houston? Posted from iPhone Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/10/19 18:39 by Smell-the-Glove. So it would depend on when but I have been to Houston several times with the steam locomotives.

Last time I saw a steamer on this line was when 844 came through Indio a few years back Posted from iPhone Date: 07/11/19 12:31 Re: Question about U.P Steam Author: donner_dude1 Bob3985 Wrote:

If this is true I wish they would reverse the order. Sunset Route W/B and LASL E/B. It would be amazing to see it working upgrade on several sets of 2.2% plus grades such as Cajon, Cima Hill and Meadow Valley Wash/Clover Creek Canyon. W/B there are only a few short stretches of of 1.6% or less. A lot of downhill running which is pretty boring to photograph if you like steam. Out Date: 07/11/19 13:29 Re: Question about U.P Steam Author: CPRR But wait, doesn’t the current steam crew prefer down hill runs with this locomotive?
Posted from iPhone Date: 07/11/19 16:11 Re: Question about U.P Steam Author: CaliforniaSteam I would bet the routing will be LASL out and then back the same way. When they do there special trip up cajon for the rail giants they will turn the entire train at Valley Jct on the BNSF in Barstow.
CS Date: 07/11/19 17:19 Re: Question about U.P Steam Author: ProAmtrak I know I owe it to myself to do this, I know I boycotted for a while, but what the heck, I got my opinions but seeing her at Pamona, then now in operation in October, I know I gotta let my dad and my friend Mark know ASAP once the dates are set!
Date: 07/11/19 17:24 Re: Question about U.P Steam Author: callum_out CS's comment would certainly make sense in light of the fact that the wye is easily able to handle both the 4014 and the full
train. not to mention good visibility from a fan standpoint. What might be interesting is the departure point in SoCal. Out Date: 07/11/19 18:00 Re: Question about U.P Steam Author: CPRR callum_out Wrote:
