Reading & Northern 425 - Rain or Shine

Reading & Northern 425 pulled her first excursion of the season this past weekend.  The trip ran from Mountain Top, PA to Jim Thorpe and return.  For the third year, 425 pulled the return trip upgrade without diesel assistance, and made easy work of the hill.  By the time the train approached their destination in Mountain Top, the skies opened up and a downpour ensued as the train arrived to unload passengers.  Enjoy!

Nice video coverage.  I love the deer, that literally, barely makes it across ahead of the train at 2:23.  I have witnessed that just a few times.

The deer came out of the tree line so abruptly and rapidly, that the engineer didn't even have time to blow the whistle at it... LOL

Well done!  My son and I were on our bicycles in the Lehigh Gorge State Park and got caught in the morning thunderstorm, up around MP 129.  It was raining so hard, we could barely here the approaching train.  It was much nicer for the outbound leg, where I caught it at the MP 126 signal.  Always enjoy seeing the 425 out and about!  Hopefully, she runs on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway soon.
