A Flying Big Boy...
Author: theironhorse

Early this morning, I shot up to Saint Paul to shoot the Big Boys run to Duluth. I figured I'd catch a few good spot and call it good. These first three images were taken from Como Ave crossing in Saint Paul as she climbed the 1% grade.

Next I was off to Sandstone to stake my spot amongst the thrones of people... After shooting here, I tried to catch up. However, the stop in Bruno was brutal... All the locomotive lickers had pretty much plugged the roads and and I got stuck in a traffic jam for nearly 45 minutes... so I headed west to the Interstate and went straight to Duluth...

Once at Duluth, I headed for Grassy Point to shoot the bridge... Yup... This happened...

DISCLAIMER!!!! Before anyone gets their panties in a knot.... I am an employee with the BNSF and had obtained permission to shoot on the Grassy Point bridge.

Very nice. The Museum in Duluth is one of the best. So are its people.

Fantastic pictures! Thanks for sharing them.

On a side note I must say that all the hype in the past about the big boy not being able to go over bridges was certainly exaggerated. I seen a picture of the 4014 a few days ago going across a wooden bridge that I wouldn't feel comfortable driving my pickup across...

Great images!  You handled the highway traffic and navigation challenges much better than I did.
