Steam & Excursion > Big Boy 4014 East of West ChicagoDate: 08/14/19 04:39 Big Boy 4014 East of West Chicago Author: kjkriigel Big Boy #4014 and crew put on a great show for the thousands of fans that lined the tracks just East of West Chicago last month. Searching for the best spot to photograph the locomotive without "railfans" was a challenge, but patience paid off with these two images. Many thousands of photos were taken with the engine on parked display, but few caught the train running at speed with good lighting and nice steam! Congratulations to the UP for a job well done!

The same can't be said for the other two with those unsightly yellow vests. So unnecessary and in my view ruin what are otherwise great photos.

The other two are the pilot engineer and probably a MOP officer and are required to wear the vests. Bob, They are NOT required to wear those vests/jackets while in the cab. Those vests/jackets ARE required while on the ground. I can't tell you how many times I have requested such folks to PLEASE remove their "high visibility" gear when they are going to "lean out of the cab". Obviously times have changed. But, please............PLEASE tell the UP crew to stop writing "BIG BOY" in chalk on the face of the engine. It just looks so damn silly. It lessens the look of a great engine. |
