Steam & Excursion > Big Boy leaving Evanston

The blue sky and subfreezing temps when the 4014 left Evanston, WY early this morning made for a really nice show.  And the usual Wyoming wind was thankfully absent!

A minute or so earlier, this long lens view shows the engine really blasting steam as the train came into view from behind the hill.  Last week the forecast had called for clouds and showers today, but thankfully that was NOT the case!

That is much more steam than smoke and  an impressive plume too.
Steam coming out from everywhere, Stack, air pumps, dynamos, cylinder cocks and injector.
Can't ask for too much more than that on a nice cool morning to accentuate it all.
