This is the traveling consist for the "Experience" display car for the staff and invited guest riders. Remember the excursion for Rail Giants is only a two day event out of this 60+ day trip around the southern tier of the railroad and I am sure the excursion consist is quite a different configuration. Many current UP passenger cars carry the names of the railroad’s premier passenger trains. Dave Date: 10/02/19 10:11 Re: 4014 consist Author: ctjacks Also note that the 4-6-6-4 engines, such as the 3985, were nicknamed Challengers.
These cars didn't have names when in service. These names were applied in the mid-1990s when these cars were reacquired and extensively restored. FWRHS needs to build its own and there might be some good ideas to copy.

The exterior of the "Walter Dean", rostered as UPP 9005, looks like a Dome-Diner because of one of the ends being rounded (IIRC, the alteration of one end into a Blunt End Observation car, was done for second owner Great America Tours who used it as a Dome-Buffet-Observation) and on the roof, what looked like an exhaust outlet (for the stove/oven) is actually a round antenna - but alas, it is back to being a Dome-Lounge with the blunt rear end's marker lights removed. Somewhere they have a section with details about their passenger fleet. Date: 10/03/19 10:48 Re: 4014 consist Author: DavidP Don,
The 9000-series domes were always lounges, originally built with round-edge blunt ends for end of train service. Soon after introduction they had full doors and diaphragms added so the could be placed next to the diners in the consist. The 8000-series dome diners had regular ends, and are most easily identified by the service door at the kitchen end.
