The winds of October will be in the Southern California area, Thursday and Friday.   Santa Ana, aka Devil Winds (Foehn) will bring hot dry gusty conditions into the area.   So while the current models show normal conditions Wednesday and the weekend for 4014, fire threat is elevated due to the normal seasonal low fuel moistures and humidities.    I know another poster said it would be wet and foggy, so you should use your own weather sources.

Foamers should never park in dry brush, stay on designated routes and know if you are on public lands (US Forest Service) or BNSF and other private lands.  (UP does not own any land in the pass) If you decide to overnight it, no wood or charcoal. 

For for petes sake if you leave your mother in the car, make sure the windows are down and she has plenty of water.

And if you smoke do it INSIDE your vehicle. You don't want to be "that guy".

"UP does not own any land in the pass"  What about the Palmdale Cutoff! The 4014 will be on BNSF track, however UP does own land in the pass.

Yes the UP owns land in the pass from the old SP.

Check your land ownership.   The UP former SP doesn’t own the land.   It’s under special use permit from the US Forest Service.   Unlike the Santa Fe, the Palmdale cutoff does not predate the National Forest in Cajon Pass.   But you know more than me.

All good advice.  
And as always, when you are out in the brush, keep an eye out for rattlesnakes.

Checked San Bernardino Assessor recorded deeds for about 20 random parcels under UP tracks on Cajon.  Every one shows owner (title) as "SOUTHERN PACIFIC CO" or "SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION CO".

 

Correct. They do own anything that wasn’t usfs. Did you know I-15 is also on the national forest?

To be clear, UP tracks over Cajon are on UP land. Not on Forest Service or anyone else's land.

It is exactly correct, as it's from the San Bernardino County Assessor's office.

All deeds show "SOUTHERN PACIFIC CO" or "SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION CO" as the owner / title holder of every parcel I checked over Cajon.

No one else.

I have online access to all US assessor records.  In California, County Assessor's records show legal ownership, aka the "final word" on ownership.

I can download a title report and post it, but the download costs me a few bucks.

Just asking: Would county acessor's records show federal lands?

You can drive most all the access roads as they are USFS.  Which is why there are no "No Trespassing" signs on those roads alongside the tracks.
