Author: Txtrainman60 Regarding 4014 and it's Texas travels, I STILL don't understand there reasoning for bye-passing Fort Worth! If they can negotiate the backing up and trackage in Hearn, I sure don't see Ft Worth being a problem! They could have headed east on the old Mopac at Tower 55 and wound up in pretty much the same planned locations. Not to mention giving A LOT more people (and employees) a chance to see it!!!

I am surprised that they did not choose to come from Hearne, to Ennis and then to Ft Worth over the old SP. Then east to dallas and Longview. Maybe they were worried about the curves at T55 to go east. I know 3985 was ok on them but maybe 4014 is different.

And believe me, it's a crock of shit! It seems the last time either 844 or 3985 came thru smoking (as most steam engines do) the city of Fort Worth pitched a damn fit and said never again! Now that sure is odd as hell when the whole damn state of California pretty much let U.P go where ever they wanted!!!!!
